Mouthy Monday: Memorial Day Edition

So, we McSisters thought we’d start a tag-along blog post of our own called “Mouthy Mondays.” The idea is just to put down whatever wise acre thing your offspring say during the week.

My house has no shortage of these incidents. Best of includes Jude hearing the ice cream truck racing out on our front porch and yelling at the top of his lungs: “Hey Baba! Can you gimme some cash?”

Last year he told a neighbor that Mimi and Baba were on a vacation from him. After the neighbor finished laughing, Jude grinned wickedly and added: “And they’re on vacation from Mommy.”

Himself and Herself stuff themselves with Sponge Bob ice cream. Please know that we don't actually let them watch Sponge Bob because that would probably only add to their mouthiness.

Jackie can also get a bit mouthy at times, mainly in imitation of yours truly. The other day, after I asked her for the gazillionth time to put her shoes on, she barked “Hey! Don’t talk to me that way!”

And like many little girls, Jackie is very preoccupied with appearance — both her own and others.

Two weeks ago she stared at the contractor doing work on our family room before hissing at me in a not-so-soft whisper “Mommy, does he match?”

Yesterday she sighed happily as I combed her hair. “I’m so beautiful,” she told me. “Yes, you’re very pretty,” I told her. She turned around and looked at me with a critical eye. “Mommy,” she said after a moment. “Maybe we should comb your hair.”

Jacqueline looking sweet and innocent -- but don't be fooled. She's judging your appearance.

So have at it: what weird and wonderful things have come out of the mouths in your life recently? We should probably have some sort of cool graphic or linky feature but, ah, we don’t. Don’t let our lack of technical know-how stop you from sharing, though!

And Happy Memorial Day!
